VMD Agro and the African Centre for Renewable Energy & Sustainable Technology enter into strategic partnership

 VMD Agro and the African Centre for Renewable Energy & Sustainable Technology (“ACREST”) are pleased to announce their strategic partnership whereby VMD and ACREST will develop a new research and educational facility to train and develop high-skilled Aquaponics talent in Africa.

The new facility will open in Summer 2018 and provide an engaging curriculum to promote an understanding of Aquaponics technologies and solutions for Africa. The facility will also serve as a research and development facility to understand crop specific grow methods and collect data on agricultural yields in the region.

 Key Partnership Details:

  • VMD to create an engaging curriculum for the African region, built on three decades of academic and practical research on Aquaponics and sustainable technologies, to develop high-skilled local agrarian talent to produce high nutrient content food for regional consumption

  • VMD and ACREST to develop a 15,000 sq. ft. R&D facility to test and collect data around growth characteristics of local and exotic fresh produce

  • Near term focus on establishing financing vehicles for urban Aquaponics investment

  • Near term focus on promoting Aquaponics and sustainable technologies
